Below you will find the exciting events Owego Hose Teams hosts each year. From golf tournaments and Monte Carlo nights, to Chicken BBQs and the Central NY Hose races, there's always something happening. Join us for our fun events as we celebrate community and sportsmanship!
Memorial Golf Tournament
June 6, 2026 - Tioga Golf Club, Nichols, NY
Proceeds from the annual golf tournament support our scholarship program for Owego Free Academy graduating seniors pursuing a first responder field; Hose Team operating costs to include hosting the Central New York Firemen’s Association Annual Convention in July; ongoing maintenance and upkeep costs at the Baker Fireman’s Fountain; and our 1866 Steam Fire Engine Restoration and Steamer House Building project on North Avenue.
Monte Carlo
Every spring and fall the Owego Hose Teams, Inc. and the Owego VFW Post 1371 & Auxiliary team up to host Monte Carlo Night. The event takes place at the Owego VFW Post 1371 Hall, 207 Main Street, Owego from 7 PM – 11 PM. A donation is asked at the door but $8 is recommended. Proceeds from the Monte Carlo will benefit the all three organization’s operating funds with the proceeds being split. Monte Carlo Night returned in 2007 after a long absence and has become a fun night for all involved. Games will include Black Jack, Beat the Dealer, Money Wheel, Chuck-of-Luck, 50/50, Joker 7 and ham/turkey Raffle. Food, drink and entertainment are provided. You must be 21 or older to attend.

Chicken BBQ
The Owego Hose Teams, Inc. partners with local organizations to host chicken barbeques. The menu includes “Cornell Chicken” halves, the Duke’s baked beans, Hinerwadel’s salt potatoes, and Roma roll for $14. Stay tuned for Fall and Spring dates each year.

Central New York Hose Races
July 11, 2026 - Auburn, NY
In Central New York the primary hose racing event is the Central New York Races held each summer at the Central New York Fireman’s Convention. The Central New York Association is comprised of 20 counties including Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Otsego, Schoharie, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, and Yates. Three races are held at this event including the ladder, wye, and five-man straight lay races. The five-man straight lay recently replaced the motor hose race. Owego Hose Teams, Inc. has been competing since 1951.
Chicken Wing Eating Contest
Past Event - Not on this year's schedule
Open to all amateur eaters but limited to 24 contestants. Cost per contestant is $25 which covers entry fee and wings. 1st place winner will receive 1 player entry to the Owego Hose Teams Memorial Golf Tournament ($80 value); 2nd place winner will receive 1 authentic Owego Hose Team Legacy baseball hat; 3rd place winner will receive 1 authentic Owego Hose Team drink koozie.
Trout Derby - April 11, 2026
$100 for largest brown and brook trout on the East, West, and/or Main branch of Owego Creek
$100, $75, $50, and $25 tagged trout stocked between Main and Talcott Street bridges

Open to youth & adults. Anglers 15 years old and younger fish for free but must register.

$10 entry fee submitted no later than Friday, April 10th.

All registrants must have a valid New York State fishing license and abide by all New York State Department of Conservation (DEC) rules and regulations.

Fly, spin, & bait fishing permitted.

Cash prizes will be awarded for tagged trout and longest brown and brook trout. Size to be measured in fish length.

Picture must include: trout, measuring device showing trout length, and registrant number identifier

Fish picture may be submitted online between 8AM and 6PM or checked in at #3 station.

Prize check will be mailed Monday, April 13 or picked up at #3 station at 6PM, Saturday, April 11.
